The Hytera MD655 is a commercial-grade, ultra-compact dual-mode digital and analogue mobile radio engineered specifically for space-constrained vehicle installations.
Unlike traditional mobile transceivers, the MD655 chassis features zero buttons or screens. Instead, intuitive operation is handled through the SM25A1 remote speaker microphone, which houses a full backlit LCD screen, volume controls, and channel changers right in your palm. This allows the primary RF brick to be mounted out of sight under a seat or deep inside a dashboard.

Note: The legacy MD655 has been officially discontinued and succeeded by the next-generation Hytera HM655, which adds modern AI-based noise cancellation and Bluetooth 5.0

Features

Handheld Control Head Interface The handheld control head places key radio controls, menu functions, caller information and alerts directly in the speaker microphone. This reduces the need for dashboard-mounted controls and provides a practical solution for vehicles where installation space is limited.
Dual-Slot Pseudo Trunking Hytera’s Pseudo Trunking technology dynamically uses available TDMA time slots to improve frequency utilisation. When one time slot is occupied, another available slot can be used for a separate transmission, helping increase communication capacity on compatible DMR systems.
Analogue & Digital Mixed-Mode Operation Supports both analogue and DMR digital communication, allowing the MD655 to operate within mixed radio fleets. Mixed-mode functionality helps identify compatible incoming analogue or digital signals and provides a practical migration path from legacy analogue systems to digital DMR.
Advanced Communication Security Supports analogue voice scrambling and digital encryption to provide additional privacy for operational communications. Compatible configurations can also support enhanced AES 128-bit and AES 256-bit encryption where required and appropriately licensed.
Legacy Analogue Signalling Supports analogue signalling protocols including HDC1200, 2-Tone and 5-Tone, helping organisations maintain compatibility with existing analogue radio fleets while transitioning to digital communication.
Remote Fleet Management Supports remote radio management functions including Radio Check, Stun, Kill and Remote Monitor. These functions provide administrators with greater control over fleet radios, including units that are lost, stolen or otherwise unavailable.
Lone Worker & Emergency Functions The Lone Worker function provides an additional safety measure for employees working independently, while the emergency call function enables users to initiate a high-priority alert when urgent assistance is required.
