Built-In Class D DSC Signalling Features an integrated Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC) system with a dedicated receiver for continuous Channel 70 monitoring. Enables rapid transmission of emergency distress alerts at the press of a button, including vessel position information when connected to a compatible GPS receiver and correctly configured with an MMSI number.
AquaQuake Water Draining Technology Icom’s AquaQuake technology uses low-frequency vibrations to help remove water trapped around the speaker grille. Restores clearer audio performance following exposure to rain, spray or splashing water.
Large Backlit LCD Display Features a large, easy-to-read LCD display with a 10-character scrolling information area. Adjustable display and keypad backlighting improve visibility and ease of operation during daytime and night-time navigation.
GPS / NMEA 0183 Interface Supports connection to a compatible external GPS receiver or chartplotter through its NMEA 0183 interface. Allows vessel position coordinates and UTC time to be displayed on the radio and enables position information to be included in DSC distress transmissions.
MA-500TR AIS Integration Compatible with the Icom MA-500TR Class B AIS transponder for convenient vessel-to-vessel communications. Enables individual DSC calls to selected AIS targets without manually entering their Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) numbers, when correctly connected and configured.
Multiple Scanning & Watch Functions Supports normal scanning, priority scanning, Dualwatch and Tri-watch functions. Allows operators to monitor important marine communication channels, including emergency Channel 16, while keeping track of selected working channels according to the chosen operating mode.
